The Team

Heidi Weiland

Operations Manager

Valdez couldn’t contain the eager and worldly Heidi Weiland. She was driven to explore and live in various locations in Europe and South America, eventually obtaining a graduate degree Interactive Multimedia and Graphic Design in São Paulo, Brazil to boot her background in Studio Art from Rice University. Through her years as Sound Web Solutions's owner and operator, Heidi has worked extensively in all areas of web design, including graphics, animation, programming, and user interface design. Heidi’s driving force is to make people happy by building authentic relationships, delivering top-quality products, and providing a stellar service that transforms clients’ businesses.

Karen Weiland

Frontend Web Developer

Karen arrived on the shores of Valdez in the summer of 1979 only planning to stay a few months. It has been 38 years. Before getting hooked on Alaska, Karen graduated from the University of California with a B.A. in Art, and later attained an M.A. in Library Science. This combo prepared her perfectly for her eventual discovery of her love for web design. In 2005, she formed Sound Web Solutions with her brilliant and talented daughter Heidi. She recently moved back to the big city with her 18 pound Ragdoll cat, appropriately named Bear, who lets her live with him. When not working on web projects, you can find Karen on ski trails or out on the open water sea kayaking or photographing Alaska’s beauty.

Zack Wallace

Web Developer

We are happy that Zack can speak the coding language. His early self-learning was in QBASIC, Visual Basic and C#.  He learned with the times and is now fully conversant and capable in PHP, CSS, HTML, and e-Commerce interface. His official education includes Comptia A+ and Net+ certifications in Information Technology from the Foley-Belsaw Institute.

As the primary support technician,  Zack provides top tier WordPress support and development for his assigned clients which include Bering Straits Native Corporation, Aleut Corporation, Saltchuk, La Touche Pediatrics and Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association.

Felipe Abreu

Front End Web Developer

Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Felipe brings a big city perspective to doing business online. With a background in International Relations, he spent many years of his pre-SWS working for the German cultural organization, DAAD. There, his work included providing consulting for research applicants looking for opportunities in Germany, coordinating outreach and organizing city-wide educational fairs.  At this point, it is hard to keep track of how many languages he speaks, but we are still super glad that he found the folks at SWS to work with. Felipe’s great love, besides his wife, is soccer. You can find him coaching on many Alaskan soccer field sidelines or playing.

Ashley Fandrich

Chief Financial Officer

Ashley, an avid Alaskan outdoorswoman, mother of three boys, and constant companion too her two dogs is a perfect fit for SWS. If she can manage all of that, then she can easily manage our finances with her eyes closed. Ashley attended American InterContinental University Online where she received an Associates of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice, a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Operations Management and a Masters of Business Administration. She is happy to have found a home at Jungle where her personal motto “if you boldly face your problems your problems will soon disappear” fits perfectly with our company’s solutions-driven approach.

Renata Ballesteros

Project Manager

Initially a student in one of our WordPress bootcamps, Renata began working with Sound Web in 2017 to provide support to clients via the Help Desk. She has fantastic organization skills that now help keep projects running smoothly. She left her beloved Alaska to pursue a Master's Degree in graphic design from sunny Barcelona, Spain. When she is not making color-coded lists to make her heart sing, she can be found exploring mountains, cooking, and attending as many jazz concerts as she can manage.

Michael Miller

Web Development Strategist

Michael has run the only Apple-certified consultancy in Alaska for almost 20 years. Based in Palmer, Alaska, he has worked on web development both as an IT professional, consultant, and developer. Acquainted with front and back end web development, data flow, project management, and user experience, he is also the chief security officer for multiple organizations. Michael has provided strategy consulting and top tier technical support for Enstar Natural Gas, Southcentral Foundation, Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Copper Valley Telecom and many more client websites. If you haven’t met Michael yet, then get ready for him to proselytize the importance of robust passwords and backups.

Margaret Adsit

Copywriter & SEO Strategist

Margaret grew up on a small farm in Southeastern Wisconsin, yet driven by a love of writing, she attended the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Life tilted for her changing her perspective which led her to pursue a degree in environmental science. Traveling wasn’t a degree offered so she left school chasing research and adventures across China, Costa Rica, Alaska and Uruguay.  She dabbled in resource conservation for a bit, but writing nipped at her heels- a career shift which happily melded with her penchant for a vagabond lifestyle. She always contends that the the more you see, the more you’ll know, and the more you’ll have to write about. When she isn’t finding magical keywords, you can find her running farm tours in Alaska, playing wither her baby or running (though we aren’t sure what from).
